Celebrate the Season of Sweets with "Cookies and Cocktails" After-Hours Event on Dec. 11

Bring a Canned Item to Donate to Philabundance and Get $2 off Admission

Treat yourself to something sweet this season with Cookies and Cocktails at the Museum of the American Revolution! At the “History After Hours” event on Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 5 – 8 p.m., enjoy cookie tastings, specialty cocktails, a create-your-own ornament station, and a talk and booking signing with American Cookie author Anne Byrn. 

As part of the evening’s events, the Museum is holding a food drive for Philabundance. Bring a canned item to donate and receive $2 off admission to the event.

The event is part of the Museum’s monthly History After Hours series, which features extended evening hours, special themed programs, happy hour food and drink specials in Cross Keys Café from 5 – 7 p.m., and full access to the Museum’s exhibits. Tickets for History After Hours are $10 and can be purchased online in advance here or at the door.

At 6 p.m. in the Museum’s Cross Keys Café, New York Times bestselling author Anne Byrn will give a lively talk on the history and significance in early America – including some surprising ties to Alexander Hamilton! – followed by a book signing at 7 p.m. Enjoy tastings of Byrn’s festive holiday recipes.

Pair your favorite cookies with specialty seasonal cocktails like an American Gingersnap, a rum-based drink with a cookie rim, and spiked eggnog made hot or cold, available for purchase in the Museum’s café.

Create your own clay “cookie” to take home based on an intricately carved cookie mold from the Museum’s collection. The mold belonged to Revolutionary era baker Christopher Ludwick, who established a bakery in Philadelphia in 1754. And create your own ornament at a station in the Museum’s rotunda throughout the evening. 

In the Museum’s new hands-on exhibit, Hamilton Was Here: Rising Up in Revolutionary Philadelphia, learn from an educator about how soldiers dressed for the winter, including Hamilton himself. Now on display through March 17, 2019, Hamilton Was Here uses playful activities and interactive games to engage visitors in the challenges of founding and maintaining a country.
 

The Museum’s Store also will be open late for holiday shopping! There’s something for everyone, including gifts for the Hamilton fan in your life.

In the upcoming months, History After Hours will include “A Winter’s Ball” on Tuesday, Jan. 22 and “Liberty For All?” on Tuesday, Feb. 19.
